Prostate cancer is the leading cancer among men in North America. Early detection is important since the outlook for successful treatment is very high with the earlier cancer stages. Prostate cancer can grow very slowly or be very aggressive, so your urologist will want to check your PSA levels and do a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis and monitor the disease. Younger men (50-80) faced with prostate cancer are often concerned with significant side effects after treatment. Radiation and surgery can often result in incontinence and impotence. General health, age and the stage of the cancer will also impact the treatment decision.
There are many options for prostate cancer treatment and recovery. The traditional treatments like surgery and radiation are still popular, but urologists are also recommending alternative treatment options including HIFU or High Intensity Focused Ultrasound.
HIFU is a prostate cancer treatment option that uses the heat from the ultrasound waves to kill the cancer in the prostate. The waves are focused and precise up to 1/10thof a millimeter. A specially trained urologist uses a computer controlled rectal probe to recreate a 3D image of the prostate on screen and fires 600-700 pin point accurate ultrasound rays to the targets on the prostate. HIFU can treat the prostate with minimal damage to surrounding tissues and organs. It is also non-invasive and non-surgical, done under a general or local anesthesia.
An outpatient HIFU procedure is beneficial because it helps individuals recover from the disease with fewer significant side effects than other prostate cancer options such as radiation therapy and radical prostatectomy surgery. In fact, no deaths have been reported with the HIFU type of treatment. More quality of life can be maintained after outpatient HIFU treatment is complete as it is much easier on the body. Breast Cancer is the cancer that develops in the breast tissues mostly in the inner lining of milk ducts or in the lobules which supply milk to the ducts. Depending on the place of origination, they are known as ductal carcinoma, if originated in the milk ducts or lobular carcinoma when originated in the lobules. Breast cancers are also classified as hormone-positive or a hormone-negative cancer which is decided based on their sensitivity to hormones like progesterone and estrogen.
The options available for breast cancer treatment depend on the type of breast cancer and the staging results. Staging is the process in which the disease spread and its progressive extend is determined. Though it is the most common non-skin type of cancer in women and is considered one of the fatal types of cancer, there are many advanced breast cancer treatment options which can help cure this disease if detected early.
Breast Cancer Treatment Plan
Once the cancer has been diagnosed, the doctors evaluate the pathology report and form a plan that would suit the type of cancer and the stage to which the disease has progressed. Treatment modes aim at reducing the spread of the disease, destruction of the diseased cells and reduction of chances for re-occurrence in future. The doctors would choose a single or a set of treatment options based on the patient’s medical conditions which they may evaluate periodically.
Types of Breast cancer treatment methods
The treatments available are in general classified as standard methods and clinical trial methods. Standard methods are those that are currently practised for the cure of breast cancer while clinical trials are those that are currently being tested for more efficient results. The standard methods of breast cancer treatment include surgery, hormone therapy, chemotherapy, radiation treatments and targeted therapy. Read the full story

Glutathione is an important antioxidant in the body, and the glutathione cancer connection is well documented. The glutathione structure is essentially a peptide made up of glutamic acid, cysteine, and glycine.
In fact, this is the most important antioxidants in the body. The immune system cannot function properly without it, and antioxidants such as vitamin C and E rely on it to function properly within the body. Mitochondria, the major source of energy in the cells, would burn up without the presence of glutathione. Most importantly however, it is required to fight off disease and boost the immune system.
The Glutathione Cancer Connection
While the reasons for it are not entirely known, the glutathione cancer connection has been well established. Patients with cancer, serious chronic illness, or AIDS have depleted glutathione levels. This seems to be absolute.
Whether or not the depleted levels are a result of the cancer or a cause of the cancer is yet to be determined. However, it is obvious that glutathione benefits your body in many ways, primarily in the functioning of the cells and the immune system.
What You Can Do
For those with the glutathione cancer issues, there are ways to increase these levels to help fight off cancer or other illnesses. If your doctor finds that your glutathione levels are low you can request for glutathione supplements. These come in glutathione pills or other forms.
Some of the supplements are actually glutathione. However, there is no evidence that taking it orally will allow it to absorb into the body the way it needs to. There are also supplements that can be taken intravenously, or by IV drip. These are much more effective in fighting glutathione cancer. Read the full story
